Linda Favero + Bill Savage LO City Council 2010
Linda Favero & Bill Savage | April 2010

WaterAfrica’s annual Walk4Water has been well received in the Lake Oswego community and we are grateful for support from the City Council through the years. In 2010, the City invited WaterAfrica to attend a Council meeting to receive a Proclamation declaring the day of Walk4Water3, WaterAfrica Day in Lake Oswego. WaterAfrica Board Member Linda Favero and President Bill Savage each gave brief testimony about the impact of the Walk and the Mayor presented the Proclamation.

Every year since the City has continued to support our mission by proclaiming the day of our annual Walk4Water, WaterAfrica Day in Lake Oswego.

Former Mayor Hoffman has attended the Walks and given remarks on behalf of the City of Lake Oswego to welcome our Guests from World Vision Zambia. Last year Mr. Hoffman spoke to the Walk crowd stating, “For me what’s important today is that as a community we’re reaching out across national borders, across oceans to reach other communities and other people.”

This gesture is not taken lightly. When the WaterAfrica Travel Team was in Zambia last summer they went to the World Vision Zambia’s National Office in Lusaka to meet with National Director Mike Veitenhaus and his staff. Hanging on the wall outside Mr. Veitenhan’s office was one of our WaterAfrica Day Proclamations from the City of Lake Oswego!

We are so grateful to the City for supporting WaterAfrica’s work to raise awareness and provide clean safe water, sanitation and hygiene for villagers in rural Zambia. At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting WaterAfrica Board Member Linda Favero gave a brief presentation on Walk4Water6 and received this year’s Proclamation. You can read it by clicking here.
(*Note the location listed in the Proclamation is incorrect. Walk4Water6 will begin and end at Foothills Park)

We look forward to another successful Walk4Water in downtown Lake Oswego!

Register here. If you are unable to attend the Walk, but would like to give a donation, 100% of your gift is applied to World Vision’s Water, Sanitation & Hygiene work in Zambia (ZWASH). Thank you, Corporate Sponsors for making that possible!!
