Why Water?
Women and girls in rural Zambian villages walk 6-8 hours each day to collect water for their families. They gather water from unclean sources (rivers and mudholes) and carry each full bucket home, only to return for another 40+ pound load.Water sourced from rivers and mudholes is not safe to drink, but it is the only option.
Common diarrhea is fatal for many children in developing countries. Diarrhea dehydrates the child and the only way to rehydrate is to use the water that caused the diarrhea in the first place.
